2019 – Smith Breaks the Don’s Run Total Record
Australia’s Steve Smith surpassed Don Bradman’s 6996-run total and went on to smash the 7000 run barrier breaking a 73-year record in the second Test against Pakistan at Adelaide Oval.
Joined by Dave Warner at the crease, Smith would surpass Bradman’s record once he hit the 20’s – he had only made four runs in the previous weeks Test in Brisbane.
In the next over, a single run would see Steve Smith achieve his 7000th Test run, taking only 126 innings to reach the mark – five faster than that of England’s Walter Hammond, who held the record since 1946.

It was also a good day for Dave Warner who smashed 335 not out – the second highest Test scoree at Adelaide Oval – the highest being Matthew Hayden with 380.
1928 – The Don’s Debut
A young man by the name of Donald Bradman made his Test debut for Austrlaia against England in Brisbane.
Bradman was only 20 but his fellow debutant, Bert Ironmonger was 46 – Australia’s oldest debutant at the time.
It wasn’t a memorable debut – Bradman made 18 and 1 in his first Test appearance and England won the test by 675 runs.
