2021 Bagot Handicap Day Preview
A New Year is here and the racing action gets underway with Bagot Handicap Day at Flemington.
The Bagot Handicap and the Standish Handicap headline the action and both races are intriguing betting contests.
We have analysed every single race and our Bagot Handicap Day tips can be found below.
Race 1 - 2:25pm
This is a tricky way to start the day as the majority of the horses in this field will be making their racing debuts and have not been seen in public.
I can’t bet into this contest with any real confidence and the market will be your best guide for this race.

Race 2 - 3:00pm
Laundy was finally able to return to winning form at Ladbrokes Park Sandown last start and it would not surprise if he is now able to string some wins together.
There isn’t a huge amount of speed in this contest and Nash Rawiller will be able to take Laundy straight to the front in the early stages – just like he did last start.
$8 is great value in what is an open betting race.

Race 3 - 3:40pm
This is an interesting edition of the Bagot Handicap and there are a host of winning chances in this field.
Miyake is a progressive stayer and the Bagot Handicap could prove to be the right target for him.
He has recorded two wins on the trot and there is no doubt that he has gone to another level when he has gotten out to an extended staying trip.
Barrier seven is perfect for him and he should have every possible chance with Michael Walker in the saddle.

Race 4 - 4:20pm
Graff is deserving of his status as the top-weight in the Standish Handicap and he is great value at his current quote of $6.50.
He made his debut for the Danny O’Brien stable with an excellent win in the Caulfield Sprint and he was not disgraced at Group 1 level in the Darley Sprint Classic.
The Star Witness entire has returned to his best form during this campaign and I would not be surprised if he ends up starting much shorter than his current quote.
2 Units Graff
Race 5 - 5:00pm
This is another open betting contest and there are plenty of winning chances.
Riding The Wave looks the value runner at $5.50.
He has raced well since being sent to Australia from New Zealand and he chased home the talented Defiant Dancer at Flemington last start.
There is no horse of Defiant Dancer’s quality in this field and Riding The Wave can return to winning form.

Race 6 - 5:40pm
On a day full of tricky races, this might be the toughest of the lot.
Brazen Song doesn’t win out of turn, but she has gone to another level this campaign and there is an argument to be made that she should be going into this race on the back of three straight wins.
There is no reason that she can’t be in the mix again.

Race 7 - 6:20pm
There isn’t a huge amount of early speed in this contest and it wouldn’t surprise if the best ride ended up winning this race.
This isn’t a race that I want to get overly invested in, but Librate does offer some value at $7.
She is a mare that generally improves the further that she gets into her campaign and there was a lot to like about her effort at Flemington last start.
Barrier three is ideal and Michael Dee will be able to settle her right on the speed.

Race 8 - 6:55pm
Fundraiser has recorded two wins on the trot and he can continue his winning ways in this contest.
He showed plenty of toughness to win at Ladbrokes Park Sandown last start and the form coming out of that race has been extremely strong.
The Helmet gelding still has the scope to improve and he has the benefit of Craig Williams in the saddle.
