2021 Vo Rogue Plate Day Preview

The Queensland Summer Racing Carnival continues to produce the goods and we are on the road to the Magic Millions.

The Vo Rogue Plate has drawn an outstanding field and will be a key lead-up to the Magic Millions Guineas, while this entire card is packed full of quality.

We have analysed every single race on the card and our Vo Rogue Plate Day tips can be found below.

Race 1 - 1:23pm

Venue Mode Handicap (1000m)

This is an interesting way to start the day and there are a host of winning chances.

I don’t want to get too heavily invested, but this might be the right race for Leroytheconqueror.

He is one of the only 1000 metres specialists in this field and he has won first-up in the past.

Barrier three is ideal and there is no reason that he won’t be in the mix once again.

Race 2 - 1:58pm

Magic Millions QTIS Magic Ticket Handicap (1200m)

Racecourse Road is racing in career best form and he is well-placed to make it three wins on the trot.

He has beaten stronger fields than this to win his past two starts and he profiles nicely for this contest.

There isn’t a huge amount of speed in this field and he should have little problem taking up the running in the early stages of this contest.

He will give his rivals something to catch.

Race 3 - 2:33pm

Magic Millions Handicap (1810m)

They have both drawn poorly, but I am happy to back both Indian Dreamer and Advance Warning at the current price.

Indian Dreamer has improved each time that he has been seen at the races this campaign and he was able to break through for a strong win at Eagle Farm last start.

He will get back from the wide barrier draw, but he will be storming home late.

It has been a while between wins for Advance Warning and he struggles for consistency, but he is capable of racing well at this level.

$14 is over the odds.

Race 4 - 3:08pm

Magic Millions QTIS 2YO Handicap (1200m)

This race is all centered around Ranch Hand and whether he takes his place in this field – he has also been included in the acceptances for Randwick in Sydney.

If he does take his place in this field, he will prove very tough to beat.

Ranch Hand made his racing debut with a dominant win at Warwick Farm and there is no doubt that he has plenty of ability.

The scary thing for his rivals is that he still looks like he has the scope to improve and he is deserving of his status as a dominant favourite.

Race 5 - 3:48pm

Magic Millions Insurance Handicap (1400m)

Smart ‘N’ Sexy is a horse that I’ve always had plenty of time for and this does look like a nice contest for her.

She did plenty wrong when she returned to the races at Doomben and she still wasn’t beaten far.

On her best form she does have a class edge over the rest of this field, he won the Dalrello Stakes during the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival, and she should be close to her peak second-up.

Race 6 - 4:28pm

Magic Millions Shoot Out (2206m)

Ballistic Boy has opened as a clear favourite, but I think that this is a much more open race than the current market suggests.

Grey Lion won the Queensland Cup earlier this year and the nine-year-old is racing as well as ever.

He is always in the mix in these sort of contests and the $11 currently available is a great bet.

Phaistos has been racing well without winning and I don’t think that the step-up in trip will be a problem for him.

He toughed it out last start at Doomben and he should take good improvement from that effort.

Barrier five is perfect for him and Nash Rawiller will settle him right on the speed in the early stages of the race.

Race 7 - 5:08pm

Group 3 Vo Rogue Plate (1400m)

This is an excellent edition of the Vo Rogue Plate and I think that Portland Sky is a great bet at his current quote of $8.

Portland Sky has form around Coolmore Stud Stakes winner September Run and he won the Ladbrokes Red Anchor Stakes on Ladbrokes Cox Plate Day.

That form is definitely good enough to win a race of this quality and he will head into the Magic Millions Guineas as a genuine contender.

The wide barrier draw is an issue, but he does have early speed and he can roll forward with Luke Currie in the saddle.

Race 8 - 5:48pm

The Buffering (1400m)

I have always been a big fan of Hilo and he represents great value at his current quote of $13.

Hilo has generally raced in stronger company than this and he has been racing well, while only recording the one race win, this campaign.

Last start he chased home Edison and he has form around a number of talented gallopers includes Athiri, Through The Cracks, Fituese.

$13 is a crazy price in such an open race.

Race 9 - 6:25pm

Listed Nudgee Stakes (1200m)

Tailleur has an excellent chance to return to winning form in the Nudgee Stakes.

She was beaten as an odds-on favourite first-up at Royal Randwick, but she did have genuine excuses and should take good benefit from that effort.

The Shooting To Win mare still has a huge amount of upside and she will be able to settle right on the speed from barrier two.

The $3.80 currently available is excellent value and I think she will start shorter than that price.
