European Football Preview – February 27
Our European preview has honed in on three leagues this week, starting off with Ligue 1 in France before double dipping in Spain and Italy.
We’ve scoured the continent for the best value plays and have found our best five below.

Bordeaux Vs Metz
Saturday 27 February, 11:30pm, Matmut Atlantique
We will open up our trip around the continent with this mid-table Ligue 1 clash as Metz aims for its first win over Bordeaux since September 2007.
In the ten meetings between these sides since then, Bordeaux has won seven and the other three have finished in draws, including the scoreless tie between the teams in early January.
Bordeaux comes into this match on a horrible run of form, losing five of their last six in all competitions and drawing with Marseille as well.
That’s good enough for me to back against Bordeaux here.

Sevilla Vs Barcelona
Sunday 28 February, 2:15am, Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán
La Liga’s most in form team overcame the disappointment of a Champions League defeat by reverting to form in their domestic competition with a 2-0 win over Osasuna.
In the last 12 months, Sevilla have been able to frustrate Barcelona to no end drawing both La Liga meetings and upsetting their Catalan rivals in the Copa Del Rey earlier this month.
Lionel Messi and company might have had no problems defeating the likes of Elche and Alaves but they have struggled far too often this season to have confidence backing them in matches like this.

Getafe Vs Valencia
Sunday 28 February, 7:00am, Coliseum Alfonso Perez
Despite losing their last four matches, Getafe has been installed as a favourite for this match which should be taken as a blessing for punters.
Valencia have hardly been an invincible force winning just two of their last seven matches but it’s hard to understand why they are such clear outsiders against a team that has not scored a goal in over five matches.
It took a red card to Celta Vigo to give Valencia the upper hand in their most recent match but all they need is to convert one clear chance to help consign Getafe to another defeat.

Crotone Vs Cagliari
Monday 1 March, 1:00am, Stadio Ezio Scida
This might be a match solely for the fans of both clubs as they try and stave off relegation and a horrendous run of form.
The good news however, this is a perfect match for punters to find some good value.
Rock bottom Crotone have lost their last five matches while 18th placed Cagliari have lost their last three and last recorded a victory on November 26.
To make matters worse, Cagliari has scored a grand total of four goals in their last ten matches, which is music to the ears of a Crotone defence that has conceded 12 in its last four.
I have no faith in the visitor’s ability to score at the moment while the hosts should be able to accidentally stumble into a goal at some point during the match.
In a contest between two bad teams, there’s always value to be found in the home underdog.

Roma Vs AC Milan
Monday 1 March, 6:45am, Stadio Olimpico
A loss here for either team could see the end of their Serie A title charge with both sides aiming to keep pace with league leading Inter Milan.
Both teams will be backing up off Europa League duties which could impact the pace of play, but that could play into the hands of the visitors who have the least to lose from a draw.
While their league form is not exactly encouraging with three defeats in their last five matches, they do have the nous to grind out a draw here and live to fight another week.
