Free 2,000 Guineas Day 2021 Tips

When Is 2,000 Guineas Day 2021?

2,000 Guineas Day at Newmarket is on Saturday 1 May 2021, and it is the first day of the two-day Qipco Guineas Festival. 2,000 Guineas Day features an eight-race card that starts at 13.15, with the last race due off at 17.25.

The 2,000 Guineas is the highlight on the card, with the first Classic of the season scheduled for 15.40. The other Group races are the Palace House Stakes and the Jockey Club Stakes.

14.25 – Palace House Stakes 2021

The Place House Stakes is a Group 3 race run over five furlongs.

Palace House Stakes 10-Year-Trends 2021

A high draw has been an advantage in the last six editions of the Palace House Stakes. In field-sizes ranging from nine to 21 runners, the winner has been drawn in one of the four highest-numbered stalls.

Five winners in the last decade were aged four, with one 5-year-old, three 6-year-olds, and one 7-year-old also successful. Only two of the last ten winners carried a penalty to victory, while six were making their seasonal debut, and four had enjoyed the benefit of a run.

No trainer with a runner this year has won the race in the last ten years, while winners have been returned at a variety of odds ranging from 9/4 to 20/1.

Who Will Win The Palace House Stakes 2021?

The Palace House Stakes doesn’t have any rock-solid statistics but, with the last six winners returned at odds of between 7/2 to 20/1, a draw in the highest four stalls could be a big advantage.

Arecibo won over course and distance 18 days ago, but the 6-year-old has never looked up to this class before. Garrus is another that contested a handicap last time, but he’s rated 9lb higher than Arecibo and isn’t without a chance if taking another step forward.

Lazuli has already won at this level but that means he carries a 3lb penalty. However, the 4-year-old can’t be ruled out after a promising return at Meydan, but he did run poorly at Newmarket as a 2-year-old.

Judicial gets the each-way vote. He finished runner-up in this race in 2018 from a poor draw and he was again done no favours in that department when midfield in 2017. Stall nine looks much better this time, and his jockey Callum Rodriguez gets on especially well with him.

15.00 – Jockey Club Stakes 2021

The Jockey Club Stakes is a Group 2 race run over 1 mile and 4 furlongs.

Jockey Club Stakes 10-Year-Trends 2021

4-year-olds have won nine of the last editions of the Jockey Club Stakes, while the other winner was aged five. Eight of the ten winners had enjoyed at least one prep run. Mark Johnston has trained three of the last ten winners, while Ryan Moore has ridden three of the last six winners. The odds of the last ten winners have ranged from 1/2 to 12/1.

Who Will Win The Jockey Club Stakes 2021?

Pablo Escobarr has yet to win on any of his seasonal debuts, so may struggle to beat higher-rated rivals after a 252-day absence. The top-rated Pyledriver has a more obvious chance, but he’s also making his seasonal debut at a course where he’s failed to shine at in the past.

Al Zaraqaan won nicely on his first start of the season, but this improving handicapper is another that has flopped at Newmarket before. Thunderous is interesting for mark Johnston with Ryan Moore in the saddle but he disappointed on his seasonal debut.

Ron Priestly also represents Mark Johnston and, though Ryan Moore rides Thunderous, Franny Norton has won five times and placed twice from seven rides on this well-bred 4-year-old. Already a winner this season, he’s taken to make his proven form and fitness count.

15.40 – 2,000 Guineas 2021

The 2,000 Guineas is the first Classic of the season, and it is run over one mile.

2,000 Guineas 10-Year-Trends 2021

It’s often an advantage to be drawn low or high in the 2,000 Guineas. Four of the last ten winners have been drawn in stalls one or three, while three of the last six winners were drawn within three of the highest-numbered stall. However, horses have also won from stalls six, nine, and 12.

Nine of the last 10 winners of the 2,000 Guineas have been making their seasonal debut. Irish-trained horses have won six of the last nine renewals, with Aidan O’Brien training five winners and Jim Bolger one. Frankel was just 1/2 when winning in 2011, while Night of Thunder was returned at 40/1 in 2014.

Mutasaabeq is the shortest-priced of the English runners and he’s impressed in winning both of his starts at Newmarket. He’s recently been supplemented for the race and his trainer’s father claimed this race in 2004.

Master Of The Seas looks the pick of Charlie Appleby’s three runners, and the Craven Stakes winner looks to have the best draw of the trio. Mystery Smiles represents last year’s winning trainer Andrew Balding, while the Hannon stable has enjoyed lots of success in this race and saddle Chindit. However, all the English-trained fancies have run already this season.

It could be significant that most of the strong Irish contingent are making their seasonal debut, a tried and tested route by Aidan O’Brien. Wembley is the pick of Ryan Moore, but he’s drawn in the middle, while Van Gogh is drawn just one stall wider. Thunder Moon represents Joseph O’Brien, and this promising type is fancied to go close from stall-10.

Battleground could be the best-drawn horse in stall-15 and, though not Ryan Moore has jumped ship, Frankie Dettori looks a decent substitute. He can add another 2,000 Guineas victory to Aidan O’Brien’s C.V.
