Tokyo Tips: Day 8 – Saturday 31st July

Ladbrokes is not a sponsor of the Olympic Games, any Olympic Committees or teams.

Swimming: Women’s 200m Backstroke
11.37am AEST

SGM: McKeown to Win Gold & Seebohm to Win a Medal @ $2.20

The swimming program is winding down but there are still plenty of opportunities to find some value in the pool.

Australia has been very well represented on the podium thus far and we enter two legitimate medal shots here.

Kaylee McKeown set the world (and censor’s board) alight after her win in the 100m event and I’ll back her to take out the gold here.

Pair that with Emily Seebohm to take out a medal too and you have an excellent SGM pairing.

Swimming: Women’s 800m Freestyle
11.46am AEST

Ariarne Titmus to Win Silver or Gold @ $1.80

Aussie Ariarne is well over the odds at $7 to win gold but the insurance of a top two finish is well worth backing in here.

It will be her final event in Tokyo and I will back her to go out with a strong showing from Lane 7.

Best case scenario it comes down to a touch between her and the short priced favourite Ledecky on the wall.

Archery: Men’s Individual
5.45pm AEST

Kim Woojin to Win Gold @ $3.50

The market (at the time of writing) has a clear gap between Kim Woojin and Brady Ellison on the top lines of betting.

Having been a member of South Korea’s gold medal winning teams in Rio and Tokyo, he knows what it takes to claim an Olympic medal and is an excellent value bet.

At age 29 he is well poised to take out the overall gold here and offers excellent value for the punters in this two horse race.

Football: South Korea v Mexico
9.00pm AEST

South Korea to Win (90 Minutes) @ $2.90

Projected to be the closest Quarter Final of the men’s football tournament, South Korea may well have played themselves into form in the closing stages of group play.

It’s hard to ignore their 4-0 and 6-0 wins over Romania and Hondurasin the closing stages of the group and they look like they will match up well with a Mexican side that was also impressive ein group play.

They belted France and South Africa but their defeat at the hands of Japan is too hard to ignore.

I’ll back the South Koreans as underdogs to get the job done in 90 minutes.
