2022 Pebble Beach Pro-Am Preview
The iconic Northern California coastline comes into focus this week as the Pebble Beach Pro-Am tees off on Friday (AEDT).
A three-course rotation featuring Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill, and the Monterey Peninsula Country Club will play host to 156 golfers, headlined by last year’s winner Daniel Berger, and last week’s playoff victim, Will Zalatoris.
Aussie Jason Day is looking to build on last week’s tie for third at the Farmers, while Patrick Cantlay remains the single-priced favourite in the field.

Pebble Beach Pro-Am Best Bet
Jordan Spieth – $19.00
Spieth missed the cut last week at the Farmers for the first time since he played the same tournament last year.
That result 12 months ago spurred a remarkable comeback for the American, starting with a T4 a week later in Phoenix, a T3 at Pebble Beach, and then a win at the Texas Open a couple of months later.
With wind always playing a factor, a consistent short game is paramount at this venue – an area of Spieth’s game that has been superb recently.
The 28-year-old ranks seventh in scrambling from the rough, while his putting has also been sharp, averaging close to five birdies a round.
Most importantly though, Spieth is nine-for-nine at Pebble Beach with a win back in 2017, and four Top 10 finishes.
Pebble Beach Pro-Am Best Value
Seamus Power – $26.00
It just feels like Power continues to fly under the radar.
To be fair, he hasn’t amazed in four appearances at Pebble Beach in the past, but his recent form coming in stacks up.
The American has landed Top 20 in each of his last four events, and he probably deserved to finish further up the leader board last week at Torrey Pines after carding three strong rounds under 70 before things fell apart on the final day.
Still, it looks like Power is going to win one of these sooner rather than later.
Matt Kuchar – $51.00
Kuch is back from a solid break after teeing it up three weeks ago for a tie for seventh at the Sony Open in Hawaii.
He’s played to mix results at Pebble Beach in the past, but his consistent short game always makes him a threat no matter where he goes.
The 20-year veteran currently ranks fifth in Stokes Gained: Around the Green, while he’s also been red-hot with the putter recently ranking seventh in overall putting average.
Having not missed a cut since last year’s Northern Trust, Kuchar is worth having something on back from a spell.
Pebble Beach Pro-Am Best Roughies
Matthew NeSmith – $81.00
The 28-year-old is still searching for his first win on TOUR, but he does look to be one of the better knockout chances this weekend.
Stringing together four consistent rounds has been NeSmith’s main problem, like it was last week when he finished just outside the Top 30 at Torrey Pines.
We saw a similar story unfold at Pebble Beach last year where he finished T16 after storming home on the final day with a final round 68. If he can somehow put it all together, he’s in with a shot.
Brandt Snedeker – $81.00
There are several horses for the course this week at Pebble Beach, but if you want one at long odds, look no further than 2013 and 2015 winner, Brandt Snedeker.
The American famously finished -22 under par when he won seven years ago, and while his recent play has been a little hit and miss, he does warrant consideration on his favourite track.
Snedeker missed the cut last week at the Farmers, but he began the year strongly with a T36 in Hawaii, right before a T14 at The American Express two weeks ago at PGA West.
His short game and putting needs work, but he’s worth a nibble at long odds.
