Eagle Farm - Race 7 3:02pm AEDT
Cape Breton is a promising type out of the Chris Waller yard that does look a live chance in the Queensland Guineas at nice odds.
The three-year-old son of Vancouver was seen doing his best work late last time out in the Daybreak Lover, a run he can improve on now out to the mile given the right ride.
He’s done some of his best racing on rain-affected going in the past, and providing he doesn’t settle too far back, he should be tough to hold out.
Eagle Farm - Race 8 3:42pm AEDT
This year’s Victory Stakes is a cracking race, and it does look a winnable one for Robert Heathcote’s filly Startantes.
We last saw the daughter of Star Turn in February when she made up a stack of ground to finish a nose second to Hinged in the Surround Stakes, while her most recent Doomben trial suggests she’s ready to fire off a freshen-up.
From the low draw, she’s sure to be in the mix in the final stages and her added wet track form is a bonus.
Morphettville - Race 7 4:02pm AEDT
You can make a case for a few in this year’s Australasian Oaks, but like they say, winning form is good form, so I’m with the favourite My Whisper on top.
The Snowden-trained three-year-old has rattled off four straight wins, the most impressive of which came three weeks ago in the Auraria Stakes when she overcame a wide run in transit to win with plenty in hand.
That performance suggests she’ll handle the rise to 2000m, and the booking of Jamie Kah from the low draw is another big plus.
Sandown - Race 8 4:25pm AEDT
Buffalo River makes his return to the races in the Ladbrokes Anniversary Vase this afternoon.
Michael Moroney’s galloper has typically done his best racing fresh, and he does look well-placed here coming off a successful spring that saw him win the Moonga Stakes at Caulfield.
His run in the Cranbourne Cup on a heavy 10 last time out is worth forgiving, and the recent form out of the Moroney camp stacks up nicely.
