Daily Racing Tips – Friday 1st July
Geelong - Race 5 2:30pm AEST
Bold Bourbon won by a length at Swan Hill a few weeks ago in his second start for the Lindsey Smith stable.
The Kiwi import showed a nice turn of foot drawing clear from midfield, and he appeared to have plenty left in the tank when crossing the line.
He placed on a Heavy 10 at Hamilton two runs back and the step up in trip should be ideal for him at this stage of his prep. Jarrod Fry sticking is a plus, and he only needs to hold his recent form to go on with it.
Geelong - Race 6 3:00pm AEST
Butter Blonde presents fitter third-up after running on well for second at Mornington in similar conditions a few weeks ago.
The daughter of Choisir weakened around the 200m mark, but I thought she fought back well to run a place behind a very smart horse.
Back out in distance is a big positive and I expect her to push forward and make her own luck on-speed from the wide draw.
Geelong - Race 7 3:30pm AEST
Bellman has done all his racing on wet tracks so far and looks the one to beat here at short odds.
The Lindsey Smith-trained three-year-old won by four lengths on debut at Hamilton back in February and was strong to the line for third at Donald a couple of weeks ago behind a smart horse from the Freedman stable.
He’ll probably have to do most of his raving out wide again, but this doesn’t look much tougher.
Geelong - Race 8 4:00pm AEST
No Surrender dropped back in class at Moe last start and found the line quite well for second.
He’s found a similar assignment here over a touch further, and considering he handled the heavy going last time out, I think we’ll see another honest effort.
The son of Universal Ruler has done some of his best racing on rain-affected going in the past and he only needs to hold his recent form to be a threat.
