Daily Racing Tips – Thursday 30th June

Hawkesbury - Race 1 12:15pm AEST

No. 7 Awesome Wonder

Competitive race to start the day, but I’m with the favourite Awesome Wonder on top.

John O’Shea’s lightly-raced filly was a winner first-up with Pike in the saddle at Wyong and has since mixed her form in much tougher assignments.

She ran on well to finish a distant second to Our Bambino at Kembla Grange a couple of weeks ago where she had plenty of work to do after settling well back.

She meets that horse much better off at the weights today, and with Pike back in the saddle from an ideal gate, I think she’ll be hard to beat with plenty of fitness now on her side.

Hawkesbury - Race 2 12:50pm AEST

No. 2 Count On Me

Count On Me presents fitter fourth-up following back-to-back placings at Newcastle and Wyong.

The son of Reliable Man finished a distant runner-up to The Milkybar Kid a few weeks ago with a well-timed run from midfield, and was seen crossing the line with seemingly plenty left to give.

He gets out to 1800m now, a journey he’s placed over previously, and Hugh Bowman retaining the ride warrants plenty of respect. Looks a good chance to finally break through.

Hawkesbury - Race 6 3:15pm AEST

No. 1 Fielding

Fielding is a promising type out of the Damian Lane yard that looks capable of taking the next step now after shedding the maiden tag at Wyong a few weeks ago.

The three-year-old son of Deep Field went around at short odds that day and did not disappoint when kicking clear after settling in behind the speed.

He’ll likely settle handy again with Jackson Searle retaining the ride, and nothing about his recent form suggests he isn’t up to this.

Hawkesbury - Race 8 4:25pm AEST

No. 2 Spring Break

Tricky race to wrap things up, but I think Spring Break is worth a look each-way.

This son of Tavistock resumed at Newcastle earlier in the month where he ran okay for fourth, but just lacked the fitness necessary to really threaten in the late stages.

Given that was his first run in nearly a year, he’s worth forgiving though, and i think out to the mile should suit second-up – especially on a firmer track. The draw is also much kinder and with the claim put to good use, he should run well.
