Geelong Preview – Wednesday 30th November
Eight races have been set at the Geelong Racing Club on Wednesday.
The weather is fine, the rail is in the true position, and our best bets can be found below.
Race 1 - 12:00pm AEDT
Tricky maiden race to start with but I do like The Khan at a decent price.
The Jamie Edwards-trained five-year-old has placed in three of his nine starts so far, including last-start over a similar trip where he overcame a wide alley to finish second.
He was on a quick backup that day so a gap between runs might be just what he needs from an ideal draw with Jake Noonan retaining the ride.

Race 2 - 12:35pm AEDT
Another race I’m not overly keen to dive into, but I do think Mighty Sapphire is deserving of his status as favourite.
The son of Russian Revolution has made only one start so far when fourth at Sale back in June.
He hit the line hard to finish less than a length off, a run that warrants respect given it was a heavy 9.
The form out of that reads well with a couple coming out and winning since, while he also gets the added class of Damien Oliver in the saddle on return.

Race 3 - 1:10pm AEDT
Colorado Cruz is three weeks between runs after sticking on well for third over a touch shorter here earlier in the month.
Despite the tricky draw, this race doesn’t appear much tougher on paper and he should have an easy time on the speed if Blake Shinn can offset the wide gate early.

Race 4 - 1:45pm AEDT
Hard to get away from the favourite Choquant atop the market.
This son of Shocking has finished runner-up in both attempts, most recently at Pakenham back in June where he was only run down over the final furlong.
The form out of that reads exceptionally well and he’s drawn to receive every chance with John Allen in the saddle.
2 Units Choquant
Race 5 - 2:20pm AEDT
I’ve gone with Dane On Tour on top in what is a very open race.
The Rebel Dane mare tried her heart out at The Valley a few weeks ago over the mile where she finished 1.5 lengths fourth after fading late down the straight.
She was four weeks between runs that day, so there should be improvement to come back to 1500m.

Race 6 - 2:55pm AEDT
Sonora looks to have a slight class edge over some of her rivals after placing at Caulfield during the autumn in a fillies and mares race.
She went on tow in back-to-back starts at Kilmore and Ararat to round out her prep and has looked in great order at the jump-outs recently.
The So You Think mare won first-up last prep and maps to get a dream run in transit from the soft gate.
2 Units Sonora
Race 7 - 3:30pm AEDT
Feudal Empire is three weeks between runs coming off an impressive effort at Moe earlier in the month.
He probably deserved to finish closer after being held up at the top of the straight, but the rise to 1300m does look ideal now with two placings from three attempts to his name.
A dry track will be the key to his chances and he’s drawn ideally in barrier two.
2 Units Feudal Empire
Race 8 - 4:05pm AEDT
Tough race to end the day but I think there’s some good value on offer for Accuse.
The Maher and Eustace-trained galloper is coming off a win at Casterton last time out where he let down beautifully to score by a clear margin.
This is tougher up in grade but three weeks between runs and on another dry track, he looks up to it.
1 Unit E/W Accuse
