Five Teenagers Who Shone at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics

Hình ảnh
In a world full of experienced, veteran competitors, it is both surprising and impressive that some of the most standout, dominating athletes of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics were teenagers. Young athletes from all around the world met and exceeded all expectations in their respective sports, breaking records, making headlines, and winning medals. Here are five teenage Olympians who truly thrived in these unusual Tokyo Games! Sunisa Lee, U.S.A. Of course Sunisa Lee would be number one on this list! The first Hmong-American to represent the U.S. in the Olympics, Lee won gold in the individual all-around at the age of 18. When Simone Biles, the most recent individual all-around champion, withdrew from the competition, all eyes immediately were on Lee. Excelling on bars in particular, Lee performed masterfully and beautifully in every event to scrape a 57.433 win against Brazilian Rebeca Andrade, who earned a total of 57.298 points. She joins Mary Lou Retton, Carly Patterson, Nastia Liuk

Madden 22 Released Ratings, and They Suck

Hình ảnh
Another year of Madden , another terrible rating reveal. Every year EA Sports releases the ratings for all players a few weeks before the game is actually launched. There are a few people that are “selected” to be the Madden Rating Adjustors . Their job is to adjust the ratings of players by evaluating them in person, but they are so bad at it. There are so many players to evaluate that I could go on and on about, but I want to talk about the top 10 player rankings for every offensive position and explain why every single one of them sucks. Quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes – 99 OVR Tom Brady – 97 OVR Aaron Rodgers – 96 OVR Russell Wilson – 94 OVR Lamar Jackson – 90 OVR DeShaun Watson – 90 OVR Josh Allen – 88 OVR Dak Prescott – 87 OVR Ryan Tannehill – 87 OVR Matt Ryan – 85 OVR There’s one good thing about these rankings, and it’s that Patrick Mahomes is a 99 overall. His performance last season more than proves that he is deserving of that high rating, despite the super

Daily Racing Tips – Sunday 1st August

Devonport - Race 1 12:00pm AEST No. 8 Van D'oro Van D’oro has been sent to Tasmania after starting her racing career in Victoria and she is well-placed to make a winning start to her time in the Apple Isle. She raced well in stronger races than this during her time in Victoria and she clearly does have some ability. Barrier four suits and she will have every possible chance in the run with Sigrid Carr in the saddle. Bet Now: Devonport Race 1 Devonport - Race 2 12:36pm AEST No. 2 Jackjack Jackjack may never have a better chance to score a maiden race win. His recent form is better than it looks on paper and his record at Devonport is fair. He won’t find a weaker field than this one and Daniel Ganderton is the right jockey to get him home. Bet Now: Devonport Race 2 Devonport - Race 4 1:56pm AEST No. 14 Iskra Iskra will need some luck in running from barrier 14, but she is still good enough to win this contest. This is the first time that he has been se

Ladbrokes is not a sponsor of the Olympic Games, any Olympic Committees or teams. Swimming: Men’s 50m Freestyle 11.30am AEST Kliment Kolesnikov to Win a Medal @ $2.50 The old splash and dash event should be dominated by Caeleb Dressel but the rest of the podium is wide open. Kolesnikov sits at $11 to win gold and is an excellent value option to round out the places. His PB of 21.89 came in April and has impressed in his individual events thus far. Having picked up a bronze in the 100m and a silver in the 100m backstroke, I’ll back him to get on the podium here. Bet Now: Swimming – Men’s 50m Freestyle Basketball: Spain v Slovenia 6.00pm AEST Slovenia to Cover -3.5 @ $1.95 The man against the team, I’ll back Luka Doncic to go off against a very talented Spanish side. On paper, Spain has a better team but as we know, basketball is a superstar game and Doncic is the best player on the court.   Having scored a ridiculous 48 against Argentina, there is no reason he will

Olympic Men’s Golf Weekend Preview

Hình ảnh
What an amazing two days of Olympic Men’s golf we have witnessed at Kasumigaseki Country Club in Tokyo , Japan . The field of 60 has put on an absolute putting clinic due in part to the incredible condition of the greens. We have seen putts dropping from everywhere in the first 2 rounds , and it has been amazing to see how skilled these men are on a course in such perfect shape. Thursday & Friday Recap When I first turned on the Golf Channel broadcast, I had to check the time in Tokyo to make sure I was not just watching first-round highlights. I watched 13 consecutive puts drop in, anywhere from 5 to 30 feet. The greens are in such amazing shape that if these guys put a good stroke on the ball, it will go in from anywhere on the green. Early it was the Austrian Sepp Straka who held the lead he could not miss from anywhere on the green and was striking the ball in amazing fashion. He started with an 8 under 63, which gave him a one-stroke lead over Jazz Janewattananond headi

Does William Hill Pay First Past The Post?

The Valley - Race 1 12:45pm AEST No. 4 Direct Direct ran well in the Silver Slipper Stakes and the Todman Stakes during the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival and clearly has plenty of ability. He has shown plenty of speed in his three race starts to date and The Valley looks like an ideal track for him. Joe Bowditch can take him straight to the front and he will give his rivals something to chase. Bet Now: The Valley Race 1 The Valley - Race 2 1:20pm AEST No. 2 Frost Flowers Frost Flowers is a filly with serious speed and she can make a winning return to the races at The Valley. She won the New Year Sprint at Flemington in impressive fashion and she wasn’t disgraced in her next two starts. 1000 metres looks like the right trip for her and she is another horse that will make her own luck right on the speed. Ladbrokes is not a sponsor of the Olympic Games, any Olympic Committees or teams. Swimming: Women’s 200m Backstroke 11.37am AEST SGM: McKeown to Win Gold & Seebohm to Win a Medal @ $2.20 The swimming program is winding down but there are still plenty of opportunities to find some value in the pool. Australia has been very well represented on the podium thus far and we enter two legitimate medal shots here. Kaylee McKeown set the world (and censor’s board) alight after her win in the 100m event and I’ll back her to take out the gold here. Pair that with Emily Seebohm to take out a medal too and you have an excellent SGM pairing. Bet Now: Swimming – Women’s 200m Backstroke Swimming: Women’s 800m Freestyle 11.46am AEST Ariarne Titmus to Win Silver or Gold @ $1.80 Aussie Ariarne is well over the odds at $7 to win gold but the insurance of a top two finish is well worth backing in here. It will be her final event in Tokyo and I will back her to go out with a strong

The Greatest Calls Of All Time

Hình ảnh
Here’s a list that you never knew you needed. Some of the greatest pieces of live commentary in Australian history. Whilst most of the time we discuss horses at On the Drift , we are in the middle of the Tokyo Olympics so obviously we had to include them here. So, here’s a list of some of the greatest horse racing and Olympic calls. Bruce McAvaney: Cathy Freeman – Sydney Olympics 2000 There couldn’t be more pressure on poor Cathy heading into the 400m final during the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Finishing with silver four years prior in Atlanta, the Aussie great had the weight of a nation on her shoulders as she looked to go one better. Bruce McAvaney, the voice of the Olympics, captured the moment perfectly. You could hear the desperation in his voice right throughout the call. With 80m to go he saw Cathy take the lead and he started barracking her home with a simple but stern “Cathy lifting”. Brilliant call. Darren Flindell: Chautauqua – TJ Smith 2017 Every horse racing fan in Au

Albion Park - Race 4 6:31pm AEST No. 4 She Has Style She Has Style has been a consistent performer throughout her short six race career having been unplaced just once in that time. She has been placed at this track and distance in her last two start running good times in both those races and a repeat of those would see her go close again here. Bet Now: Albion Park Race 4 Albion Park - Race 6 7:15pm AEST No. 2 Kick Ons Kick Ons broke a string of poor performances with a 2.5 length win over the short course here at Albion Park last time out. Bet Now: Albion Park Race 6 Albion Park - Race 8 7:55pm AEST No. 1 Mr. Denzel Mr. Denzel put together two impressive wins by a combined 5+ lengths before finishing eighth last time out. Hobart - Race 1 5:23pm AEST No. 1 Tommy Hillfigure Tommy Hillfigure kick started his second campaign with a second at this track two weeks ago when he ran into one better. The three year old gelding has a big amount of upside and the step back to the short circuit is a benefit to him. Bet Now: Hobart Race 1 Hobart - Race 2 5:53pm AEST No. 1 Helikaon Helikaon is putting together a really nice racing resume and has managed six wins from 15 career race starts to date. The three year old could not have been much more impressive when scoring by over 16 metres at this track last start and he again looks tough to beat in this contest. Bet Now: Hobart Race 2 Hobart - Race 3 6:23pm AEST No. 4 Forgot The Wallet Forgot The Wallet won on debut at Launceston in March and followed that up with a second to close out her first racing campaign. The three year old filly returned to the track with a nice second at this track and she will only improve on that effort here. B

Race 1 - 11:40am AEST Harvey Norman TROBIS Handicap (1200m) Wild Rover has raced to mixed results in his short career, but he did show plenty in his maiden win at Pakenham last time in to suggest he’s the rightful favourite. Colhoun finished off strongly for second after racing on-pace last time out over shorter. He maps to go straight to the front again and will likely give the others something to catch. She Shines Bright is a useful type that has been racing well of late. She doesn’t win out of turn, but she did well to finish off for fifth after being caught wide last time out over further. The step back to 1200m looks ideal now. 2 Units E/W She Shines Bright Bet Now: Darwin Race 1 Race 2 - 12:17pm AEST Schwepp

Lismore - Race 1 12:14pm AEST No. 11 Exhibitor Exhibitor has been racing well without winning during his racing career to date and he finds himself in a very winnable contest at Lismore this afternoon. He hasn’t had a huge amount of luck in his past two race starts and he has still been able to find the line strongly. Barrier one suits and this is his opportunity to break through for a maiden race win. Bet Now: Lismore Race 1 Lismore - Race 3 1:24pm AEST No. 5 One Point Five I am confident that One Point Five is a better filly than her current record suggests and this does look like a nice race for the daughter of Toorak Toff. She has generally been racing in stronger company than this at the Gold Coast and she had excuses when she failed to fire last start. Steph Thornton can settle her right on the speed and she will give her rivals something to chase. 2021 Darwin Cup Preview

The 2021 Darwin Cup headlines what has been a huge Carnival in the Northern Territory and we are set for a fascinating race on Monday afternoon. Alice Springs Cup winner I Am The Fox will go into the race as the favourite, but he appears to have his work cut out against Chief Minister’s Cup winner Highly Decorated and last week’s Metric Mile place-getter Paghman. In what shaping to be a wide-open race, be sure to read our analysis on every runner in the 2021 Darwin Cup in our preview below! Kaonic It’s been close to a year since Kaonic last won a race and his current market price well and truly reflects that. The son of Savabeel has contested much tougher races than this in the past, but after battling home for seventh last week in the Metric Mile, he looks tough to have. Bet Now: Kaonic Noir De Rue Noir De Rue won his first start under trainer Jason Manning earlier in June and was last seen battling home for fourth in the Chief Minister’s Cup. The six-year-old has won twice i

Canoeing: Men’s Slalom Kayak 5.00pm AEST Lucien Delfour to Win a Medal @ $2.35 Delfour heads into the kayaking event on the fourth line of betting for the gold medal and is a real chance at making the podium here in Tokyo. He finished in 17 th in this event in Rio but is rated as a fair chance to be in the mix in a field that (as we have seen), can change literally on a turn. Bet Now: Canoeing – Men’s Slalom Kayak Football: Great Britain v Australia 7.00pm AEST Over 2.5 Goals (90 Minutes) @ $1.87 We are down to the final eight in the women’s football tournament and the Matildas managed to qualify thanks to a scoreless draw with the USA on Tuesday. As for the Brits they cruised through their group with wins over Chile and Japan before drawing with Canada in their final game. We should see this game played at a slightly higher intensity that the Matildas last outing and I’ll back a few goals to be scored here. Since they returned to action in April, six of the Matild

Simone Biles’ Decision to Withdraw from Finals Sparks Both Support and Backlash

On Wednesday, Simone Biles , the greatest gymnast of all time, announced her decision to withdraw from Thursday’s individual all-around competition at the Tokyo Olympics to focus on her mental health and well-being. This announcement directly follows Biles’ decision to sit out of the team final. “After further medical evaluation, Simone Biles has withdrawn from the final individual all-around competition at the Tokyo Olympic Games, in order to focus on her mental health,” USA Gymnastics said in a statement on Wednesday. “We wholeheartedly support Simone’s decision and applaud her bravery in prioritizing her well-being. Her courage shows, yet again, why she is a role model for so many.” USA Gymnastics also announced that Jade Carey, the gymnast who earned the ninth-highest score in Olympic qualifications, will take Biles’ spot in the all-around competition on Thursday. This announcement took the entire sports world by surprise; Simone Biles has been dominating gymnastics and t
